Part 2: Professional Development Goals

Use the space below to write a statement identifying your professional development goals.

As a passionate nurse, my professional development goals are to improve my clinical abilities, leadership skills, and healthcare innovation. Acquiring critical care and nurse management certifications will help me manage challenging patient situations and lead healthcare teams. I want to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) to learn about evidence-based practice and healthcare policy.

This advanced knowledge will help me develop new patient outcomes and healthcare delivery solutions. I am devoted to lifelong learning through professional conferences, workshops, and continuing education. By remaining current on nursing and healthcare technologies, I can keep my practice effective. The desire to improve patient care, create a cooperative and encouraging healthcare environment, and advance nursing drives my professional growth ambitions.

Part 2: Alignment with Social Change

Use the space below to write a statement proposing how you might align one or more of your professional development goals with the University’s mission of social change.

I want to combine my professional development aspirations with Walden University’s aim of social change as a nurse who wants to change society. I share Walden’s goal of turning career professionals into scholar-practitioners who inspire good social change (Walden University, 2023). By focusing on critical care and nurse management, I can help solve major health issues.

For example, Walden supports global good by enhancing essential care for underprivileged communities. A Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) would enable me to execute evidence-based treatments and advocate for healthcare inequalities mitigation policies, supporting social justice and equitable access to excellent care (Chhetri & Zacarias, 2021). My lifetime commitment to professional growth keeps me at the centre of healthcare innovation. This dedication improves my professional and leadership abilities and prepares me to reform the healthcare system. My advanced education and experience can help underrepresented populations benefit from more inclusive healthcare policies and practices.
