    The practicum-based client, Jennifer, is an adult who is characterized by moderate anxiety, which affects her daily functioning, excessive worry, restlessness, sleeping problems, and lack of concentration. The interview was also motivated by the practice of motivational interviewing, with the goal of learning the willingness to change, identifying stress-related problems and the maladaptive coping strategies, and developing concrete self-care plans and SMART objectives.

    Strategies for Promoting Caring Relationships to Achieve Positive Outcomes

    Caring relationships are required to achieve positive outcomes in anxiety management. Some of the attributes are active listening, empathy, and non-judgmental communication, which develop a therapeutic relationship between a nurse and a client (Scharfman, 2024). Taking into consideration the emotions and opinions of Jennifer will make her feel relevant and heard. Trust is enhanced by confidentiality and the creation of psychological safety.

    The decision-making position will be shared; this approach will promote autonomy in Jennifer’s care plan. Being able to see her good sides and what she had been doing in the past to get through makes her feel more confident and active. Patient-centered care, trust, and empathy have been shown to improve adherence to the treatment, self-efficacy, and anxiety outcomes.
