The following is the summary of the Technology Needs Assessment report and implementation plan for our organisational Information System change Project. This campaign targets a groundbreaking consequence out of the realisation of the importance of technology in today’s health care (Smith et al., 2020).

With great emphasis on meeting new healthcare needs and developments in technologies in all healthcare organisations, the organisation has the responsibility for improving its informatics systems in order to improve the delivery, effectiveness, efficiency, safety, and patient satisfaction and results. The present needs assessment meeting created an important basis for our findings and recommendations, as outlined in the following summary and implementation plan.

This approach ensures that our project is fully researched, fully planned for, initiated, and implemented in the right manner to meet the needs of our stakeholders and the firm’s set organisational goals and objectives.

Anticipated Benefits for Patient Safety and Health Outcomes

Such benefits are, therefore, essential, as outlined below, in exercising patient safety and generally improving healthcare outcomes when an information system change is to be implemented. From our literature review and the information from our study members’ needs assessment meeting, we have identified the following key benefits to be anticipated.

  • Reduced Medical Errors:

By minimising the number of steps, increasing the reliability of the data inputs and strengthening the capacity to support decisions, the new information system can significantly diminish the rates of medical mistakes (Bates et al. , 2019). The suggestion is that clinical decision support tools when integrated, hold the potential to reduce or eliminating adverse events as they assist a healthcare provider in making informed decisions.

  • Enhanced Care Coordination:

It can be suggested that the increased possibility of exchanging data between care providers, alongside enhanced possibilities of integrating applicants and receiving data from other group members, can lead to enhanced cooperation between members of medical teams.

This heightened coordination results in timely and comprehensive care because the appropriate patient information is easily available to various healthcare givers, as noted by Adler-Milstein et al. (2021).

  • Improved Patient Outcomes:

The advantages of an advanced information system can be seen in the area of patient care where appropriate procedures can be based on research findings, proper treatment provided for individual patients, and preventive measures initiated.

The following recommendations can be put forward on the basis of a recent analysis. Based on the needs assessment, this paper revealed that the organisation has a poorly developed informatics system that is incoherent and weak, and this hinders the flow of information in an efficient manner (Lee et al., 2021).

To do so, it is suggested to adopt an enhanced level and plurality of the protocols involved and to connect the diverse systems to enable the use of common data exchange formats. Thereby, by making processes uniform and guaranteeing interfaces, the treatment team can obtain all the patient data insightful in a shorter time, and with higher accuracy, boosting managed care respectively.

I also identified and outlined recommendations that could be used in the socialisation of stakeholders regarding the implementation of a change project for an organisational information system.

The changes that are expected in the next five years are standardisation and integration, improved decision-making system, development and supporting user training and education, development of patient engagement tools, and monitoring and evaluation; all these strategies are based on the current literature and practical experience.
