1. As you work your way to the mid-point of your DNP project classes, what are some of your personal, professional, and leadership development goals, and how do you see those changing as you continue to move further into your classes?

I have established three fundamental developmental goals in the middle of the program, which now need to be refined and strategically expanded. Personal development aims to improve cultural competency and emotional intelligence, providing better service to diverse populations. Professional development focuses on the development of evidence-based practice, especially in a global health and humanitarian context, where multifactorial interventions require highly developed clinical reasoning.

Leadership development focuses on the competency of transformational leadership, such as stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy, and management of change at the systems level. Evidence suggests that nurses must be able to lead, practice clinically, and serve as scholars with advanced competencies to address complex healthcare problems (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2021). This will alter the objectives by taking into consideration interdisciplinary collaboration and the quantification of population health outcomes. Further study will enhance my ability to read and analyze research results, enabling me to make informed policy suggestions. The practicum experiences on the advanced level of learning will combine the theoretical information with leadership practices to prepare me to work at the executive level within the health sector.

2. Consider how you think and feel about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and implicit bias. What is the influence of these principles on your actions and judgments in your field of study? What role does implicit bias play in your growth as a professional and a leader?

The DEI principles are embedded in my clinical decision-making and patient care in the nursing practice. The principles require a constant self-reflection upon unconscious biases that can affect therapeutic relationships and the provision of care. My practice will involve the use of systematic methods to identify bias, including cultural evaluation tools and various team consultations. Researchers have discovered that implicit bias significantly influences clinical decision-making, patient outcomes, and healthcare disparities among different populations (Gopal et al., 2021). Continuous implicit bias training and reflective practice should be used in professional development to deliver equitable care. Leadership development requires establishing inclusive cultures that foster diverse views, ultimately enhancing corporate performance and innovation.

NURS FPX 8024 Assessment 4 Midway Evolution

The effects of implicit bias on professional development include the potential to restrict growth in cultural competency and hinder genuine patient-provider relationships. Mitigation measures are well-organized reflection activities, varied mentorship, and evidence-based cultural competency training programs. The future leadership will involve the adoption of organizational policies that address systemic barriers and enhance health equity. The principles will guide me in the development of future policies, team leadership, and patient advocacy activities.

3. What has changed about your writing, or what strategies/skills have been instrumental in your development? Also, what are the aspects that you want to work more on in the second half of your work?

The development of my writing is based on the systematic use of evidence-based composition strategies and structured revision activities. Specific enhancement areas include the augmented synthesis of complex literature, argument development, and improved American Psychological Association (APA) formatting consistency. The use of outlining skills, peer review, and multiple drafts has increased the level of analytical depth. Studies prove that an organized writing course and targeted practice can have a profound positive impact on the academic writing competency and the scholarly communication skills of doctoral students (Zhang & Zhang, 2021).

The ability to critically analyze has been achieved through systematic literature evaluation and evidence integration practices. The topics that still need improvement are complex statistical reading, policy analysis writing, and interdisciplinary communication approaches. The rest of the coursework will focus on acquiring competencies in grant writing and preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. The priorities of future development will be to enhance the application of a theoretical framework and improve conciseness, all while maintaining analytical rigor. The capstone project development and possible dissertation preparation activities will help to develop advanced research writing skills.

4. Looking back on your learning experience so far, how has your self-care motivation and dedication changed during the program? Determine the strategies or practices that have cultivated your well-being and influenced you in terms of motivation. In the future, explain what you will do to make sure that you take care of yourself and feel motivated to finish the rest of your education. Additionally, consider what you can do for yourself to stay well and achieve success.

My motivation and self-care practices have evolved through the methodical application of evidence-based wellness plans and effective time management strategies. Particular activities are planned, including physical exercise, mindfulness meditation, and regular academic goal reviews, to keep supporting the program. Some effective strategies include establishing clear boundaries between work and life, utilizing peer support networks, and employing stress-reduction methods during periods of intensive coursework. Studies have shown that doctoral students who engage in frequent self-care activities tend to achieve better grades and experience reduced burnout levels (Boyd et al., 2022).

NURS FPX 8024 Assessment 4 Midway Evolution

Long-term coursework motivation is the result of relating coursework to long-term career goals and keeping in mind milestones in the program. To take care of oneself in the future, priority will be given to weekly reflection sessions, professional counseling assistance, and sustaining social relationships beyond academic settings. The actions to be taken include constructing an elaborate dissertation timeline management, forming mentorship relationships, and utilizing technology limits to protect personal time. Further success should be based on the ability to balance academic demands, physical health support, and emotional stability during the program completion.

Assessment 4

Midway Evolution

InstructionsAttempt 1Attempt 2Attempt 3
Submit your nursing reflection journal.

Introduction

In this assessment, you will reflect on your progress as you reach the halfway point in your DNP journey. In the beginning of your program, you set personal, professional, and leadership goals that you have taken into consideration as you move through the program. Now is the time to check in and see how you are doing with your initial goals, and then to decide where you’d like to focus in the second half.

Reflection Journaling

The purpose of reflective journaling is to allow one to engage in the process of self-reflection as a learner in a master’s program. Through reflective practice, the learner will set goals in personal, professional, and leadership development. Another core component of professional development includes consideration of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles that guide interactions with colleagues and clients. The learner will evaluate their feelings about DEI and how it shapes their actions and decisions. Through reflective journaling, the learner can personally reflect on their behaviors, thoughts, and decisions, and how those impact them in the role of their designated discipline. Through this reflection, learners self-reflect as a learner in a doctoral program, with a focus on personal, professional, and leadership development, and DEI principles and to begin planning for the capstone course. Writing in the third person is customary in academic writing; however, you should write in the first person for this assessment.
