Assessment 4
Topic Report: Secondary Review
Instructions
Submit a revised copy of your Topic Report to be assessed by a Secondary Reviewer to ensure it meets doctoral expectations.
Introduction
As we progress, your focus remains twofold: refining your Topic Report based on invaluable mentor feedback and gearing up for the Secondary Review. There are useful resources on citations and references if you need help with revising those in your report. Simultaneously, delve into revisiting your gap in practice, ensuring you have all of the information you need about your interventions, evidence from the literature, and any other areas you may need to address in more detail.
Overview
For this assessment, your Topic Report will undergo a review by a Secondary Reviewer to ensure the work meets doctoral expectations for writing, content, supporting evidence, alignment, and feasibility. Secondary review is both an essential program expectation and an important opportunity for learners. A hallmark of doctoral learners is openness to critique and responsiveness to feedback. Like any scholarly endeavor (e.g., journal article, book chapter, or dissertation), the Topic Report will benefit from the integration of feedback from a reviewer and a process of ongoing revision at each stage of development.
Note: The assessments in this course must be completed in the order presented; subsequent assessments should be built on both your earlier work and your mentor’s feedback on earlier assessments. If you choose to submit assessments prematurely, without considering and integrating your mentor’s feedback, your assessment may be returned ungraded, resulting in your loss of an assessment attempt.
Instructions
Your mentor will review the content of your report and may require revisions before submitting it for a secondary review.
Your assessment will be assessed on the following criteria, which align with the Secondary Review rubric maintained through the Office of Research and Scholarship:

- Problem: The problem aligns with the accepted standards of the discipline and program.
- Supporting Evidence: The topic and problem are supported by the recent literature and/or relevant evidence. Per department standards.
- Alignment and Feasibility: The project appears to be feasible and aligned given the current and supporting materials reviewed.
- Writing: Writing uses proper paragraph development, transitions, and academic tone with proper grammar, usage, mechanics, and APA formatting.
