The skills I would apply to manage healthcare leadership include the ability to empathize, reason, and solve problems through a consensus approach, combined with strategic management skills. I struggle with implementing change because I’m ineffective at sustaining momentum during the process. I am a good listener with an ability to be more concise when under pressure. I possess management skills, empathy, and critical thinking, which enable me to assist in decision-making in my leadership role. I apply ethical values of my profession as a nursing leader by prioritizing patient choice, doing good, and fairness in all healthcare decisions, and practicing honesty and taking responsibility. I adhere to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, respecting the rights of patients, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring equal treatment for all. I discuss patient care issues daily, promote ethical discussions during team meetings, and have a means to report ethical problems. Ethical healthcare leadership implies addressing organizational issues with professional moral principles in such a way that team members feel empowered to raise their voices regarding their problems (Keselman & Braithwaite, 2020).
