Practicum Hours Verification and Reflection
I have managed to fulfil the mandatory 50 practicum hours in this course in a hospital-based clinical setting in the United States. These hours were met according to the Capella University guidelines, which stated that all practicum activities were not paid and were in no way related to my employment duties. The experience also presented a good challenge to improve my clinical knowledge, professional skills, and appreciation of healthcare delivery systems.
During the practicum, I was actively involved with a range of clinical and observational experiences, which helped me to learn and develop professionally. I interacted with healthcare teams, nurses, physicians, and other allied health professionals to learn more about collaborative practices in care. I witnessed the working processes of patient care, helped to collect data about patients, and read care plans to comprehend how clinical decisions are made according to the needs of patients and based on evidence-based practices. Investing in patient safety, quality improvement, and effective communication in a hospital setting is also something that I learned during this practicum. I had an opportunity to learn about how medical workers handle patient outcomes, solve problems, and provide continuity of care. Each shadowing opportunity reinforced how essential clear documentation is to maintaining continuity across shifts and disciplines. Also, I was able to relate theoretical knowledge from my coursework to clinical situations, and this helped me to develop better critical thinking and clinical reasoning ability.
The hours spent on practicum were properly documented in the Capella Academic Portal (CAP). I made sure that every entry was recorded and accompanied by the required verification materials. I have also provided a screenshot of my recorded hours and presented documentation to prove that I successfully completed the practicum requirements as required. In general, the practicum experience has contributed to my professional development. It has enhanced my skills in operating in a healthcare team, enhanced my knowledge of clinical processes, and solidified the significance of providing patient-centered, evidence-based care. The 50 hours have equipped me to assume greater roles in my nursing practice and become an effective healthcare practitioner.
